Kayde kicked a stone down the street as he made his way to the outskirts of town. Most vampires knew better than to venture this far out of the city. This was exile territory, and to come out here was sure suicide, well, for most anyway. Kayde wasn't worried. He knew for a fact today would not be his last day. If anyone attacked before he could reach his destination, he could easily wipe them out, no problems, after all, that is why Nathan had sent him, rather than someone else. Once he reached his destination however, he knew his safety was assured. The leader of the exiles wouldn't allow harm to come to him, after all, he was Kayde s sire. It was a pretty well known fact that Will was Kayde's sire, so it did keep Kayde's trips through the exile territory fairly uneventful. After all, most exiles would be terrified of the wrath of Will when he was displeased. Kayde felt like it was just a label though. He and Will did not have the same relationship as say, Elliot and Breannan, or Scarlett and Nathan. The only loyalty he thought he felt to William was through their friendship. It wasn't as if William went around ordering Kayde to do stuff either. Personally Kayde did not think that he would really be forced to, after all, William already had a laptop, Winnie. He didn't need Kayds jumping at his every whim as well.
The thought of doing what anyone asked at the drop of a dime almost made Kayde laugh. As if. He was not pathetic. If anything, he was a man to be feared. He was considered the greatest fighter in his small village in Scotland when he was human. He was respected, trusted, even for his relatively young age. In fact he had been fighting to save his village when Will had turned him. Kayde was sketchy on all of those details though. He remembered hearing the signal, and running out of his house to assist. He sometimes swore he could still get a scent of burning flesh, a smell he was surrounded by when he died. A few times had meant to ask Will on why he turned him. He did not even recall seeing the man during the battle. Then, he also knew that when he got into a certain mode, all he was fixated on was killing. He shook the thoughts clear from his head and focused on the road before him. It was almost funny the way he worked. Here he was, second hand man to Nathan, the leader of the High Rollers, but he wasn’t extremely loyal to him. Sure, he would do what Nathan asked. Usually… But then again, he continued his friendship with William… and he wasn’t entirely too secretive about it. He didn’t go waving it around by any means, but at same time, he was pretty certain that Nathan knew he still kept in contact with William, even outside of his orders. In fact, that was part of the reason he had volunteered to go out to the Exile territory today. Well, that and the simple fact that everyone they sent out to try and negotiate with the Exiles never returned.... or returned in pieces. A clear symbol that they were NOT welcome out there.
Hearing a rustling from the wooded area beside him, Kayde stopped dead in his tracks, listening. Shallow breathing... nervous pacing.... He smirked slightly to himself. "Leave now while you still can. Trust me on this. This is not something you will walk away from." But the warning was unheeded. The vampire from the woods attacked, trying to go straight for his throat. Instead, the foolish git met Kaydes dagger as it sliced right through his neck. Hearing the thunk of the body as it hit the ground, immediately followed by the head, Kayde chuckled darkly "I told you it wouldnt end well for you." he said, shaking his head and wiping the blood on the mans shirt as he put the dagger back in its place. Kayde had always wielded a sword well. It was part of what made him such a skilled fighter. But as times changed, Kayde learned that it was really no longer acceptable to carry around a sword, so he had switched to an easier to conceal dagger. Had he felt like messing around a little, he would have fought the vampire and slowly drained him, letting the man regret the day he so much as thought as challenging him. But Kayde was on a mission and didnt have time to mess around like that. Ha, he dared anyone else to even try and stand in his way before he reached William. They wouldnt be able to blink before he killed him.
Kayde stopped again and listened. He heard the sound of conflict.... turning into the woods, he followed the sound as it lead him to a clearing. Sure enough, there it was. Will was fighting four or five of Nathans men. Kayde vaguely recognized them, but they meant nothing to him. In fact, one he could not stand, one, well she was a constant ass kisser, and the third, well, he'd only seen him twice and had not formed an opinion yet. Why on earth would Nathan had sent men if he knew that Kayde was coming to negotiate? Perhaps Nathan had not sent them, maybe they had simply took it upon themselves to foolishly attack. Which ever one it was, it was foolish. They did not stand a chance against Will, and it was certainly showing. Kayde stuck to the shadows and watched the fight. He'd only step in if he needed to... and he doubted Will would need the help. In stead, he preferred to watch Wills fighting style. There was always something to be learned, and you never knew when you would need to know your opponents strenght and weaknesses, and it was very possible that William would be Kaydes opponent one day. Smirking ever so slightly as the last body fell to the ground, Kayde took his dagger out and throw it in Wills direction. Purposely lodging it into the tree right next to him. Kayde stepped out of the shadows, slowly clapping. "Bravo. Nicely done there William. Once again you've proven yourself to be a superb fighter. I should have figured I would not be the only one your brother sent to.....chat with you." He gave a smirk. "But really... how the hell are you, old friend?"

William raised an eyebrow as the vampire said some last words before leaving the space in front of him, the moment he was alone and unseen, his shoulders slumping a little bit. He was seriously low on blood. The supply chain, if one could call it that, was limited to zero at current time apart from the odd straggler who found themselves in the outskirts. Still, the past two in the last week or so had been shared out with the exiles and… well… it had left him with nothing but animal blood. It wasn’t a healthy routine particularly for someone who so many years ago had lived on five huge meals a day and it was starting to take its toll. Rubbing his eyes, William stood to his full height and left the area he had to visit so often for meetings.
Will stopped still in his tracks. The scent hit him immediately and made his mouth water in hope and expectation. Vampires. He could tell they weren’t exiles or rotters due to the sweetness of their blood which made it even more interesting. Grabbing hold of one of the tree branches, Will pulled himself up and jumped along until the smell was beyond imaginable. Will looked down and saw five wonderfully tasty vampires scouting the area. Well this would be fun.
”Ohhhh, William!” The woman of the group called out, the smugness reflected in her tone as she swung a large knife around. Really? A knife? How Kayde were they trying to be? The others had similar weapons which was amusing to say the least. He had never had the need for such pettiness, all it took was a right swipe, the right bite or even a naughty hand through the chest and the opponent would be dead. Though, the question with this group was not if they were going to die… more how. It couldn’t hurt for him to keep some of the blood to himself… everyone but he himself had fed in the last week.
”Did someone call my name?” Will dropped, uncaring to the element of surprise. He knew they were most likely formidable opponents, but there were few that could match him as many of the vampires had died before they reached his age. Their smug smiles didn’t disappear so he merely tilted his head in acknowledgement of them, a curious look reaching his face. ”Nathan wishes to speak with you in a… different setting.” William chuckled aloud at that statement. ”And he sent you? Somehow I doubt it.”
The looks to one another was more than the answer he needed. ”Nathan didn’t send us. We came of our own accord. We do his bidding.” Well, William could have guessed that one. ”Well… in that case… you can tell him a big royal ‘no, sir’ from me.” The looks he received were amusing, if not pathetic. The smug smiles returned once more and a couple extended their fangs. ”We can’t accept that answer.”
William saw the jump before they had bent their knees and watched one of the vampires fly at him… but found themselves met with William’s signature move, the hand straight through the chest, grabbing the heart and ripping it from the chest. Watching the body drop and the mild horror reach his fellow vampires, Will lifted the heart above his mouth and let it drip slowly onto his tongue. ”Mmm, tasty.” Letting his own fangs extend, Will moved with the vampires as they swung for him, their fighting styles nothing to be marvelled at.
They attacked two from behind, two from the front but William could see their attacks coming. Really, they had only survived this long from the lack of blood the exile leader had digested recently and his moves were a little slower than normal. Still, that was better than most and he found his hands gripping and ripping out two more hearts, an evil smirk on his face as he dropped their source of an undead life onto the muddy floor. Sneering his fangs slightly, his tongue flicked at the bottom of the points as he gazed upon the two remaining. ”Isn’t this fun?” Once more, they both dived at him and William kicked one in the opposite direction, grabbing the other and ripping every artery or vein out of their neck with his teeth in an instant. Watching them bleed out made William pout a little but slowly dragged his eyes back up to the remaining one… the woman. He watched her drop to her knees instantly, pleading, begging for him to let her go… that she had learnt her lesson.
William relaxed his offensive stance and let his shoulders slightly, though his senses were picking up another smell from in the trees other than the fear from the bitch in front. Casually strolling closer, Will rested a casual hand on her head, almost comforting. ”Ssssh. It’s okay.” Gesturing for the woman to stand, Will moved his hand to her back and moved his eyes to look in the distance toward the trees. He knew it was Kayde… it was always Kayde. The woman’s squeal turned silent after just a moment in complete shock as William’s hand shoots through her body, his fingers gripping her heart but not pulling. Not just yet. Letting his fangs move clear again, he sunk into her neck and drained her, messily and quickly. With his mouth surrounded by blood, William grinned at the trees and watched Kayde emerge, clapping. He felt much better now he’d had some actual blood to sustain off.
”Wittman!” Casually pushing his finger against his mouth to mop up the blood, he sucked them dry. It never did get old. Raising his eyebrow at the compliment, William slowly analysed Kayde, his dark eyes looking him up and down. Kayde was an excelled fighter… and not someone anyone would want to get into a fight with. Who knew why Will had turned him all those years ago. He remembered vividly watching him and his strength and stubbornness had certainly been something to admire. Shit, the guy had gone down fighting what he believed in and if that didn’t warrant someone having a second chance, then what did?
The infliction given in the word ‘chat’ was interesting and Will knew he hadn’t nearly had enough blood for him to easily overcome Kayde so the stats ran through his head quickly. Perhaps it would be wise to leave whilst he could. ”How am I? Oh, you know… busy… . I must admit I’m getting tired of visitors not ready to willingly donate their blood.” Pacing in front of his friend, Will kept a fair distance from the man so as to ensure he was prepared for an attack. Who knew what Nathan had made Kayde promise? ”How are you though?” He smirked and knew exactly how to ruffle the man’s feathers. “Still following Nathan around? Doing his work for him? Brushing his teeth? Stepping on anyone you can for a bit of blood? OH! No!? That’s me! I always get mixed up. I step on people for blood, you just… step on people.”
William would be first to admit he was almost being uncalled for in his approach but he was tired and ridiculously hungry. The blood had satisfied him for a moment yet know just made him crave it more. ”What do you want, Kayde?” He was annoyed and it was very unlike him to address his good friend in this way. ”I’m a busy man. Vampires to feed, vampires to feed from, you know the whole business.” He waved his arm like it was nothing.
A crack of a stick in the distance stopped his pacing and made him tilt his head, his fangs rearing their heads slightly at the prospect of what it meant. He couldn’t afford this right now. ”Kayde. .. I know you’d stoop low, but this something special even for you…” He couldn’t even be sure it was another vampire since he couldn’t smell them but his blood level was making him paranoid and it wasn’t a risk he could take. ”Is this why you stopped by?” Another large smell and still… no vampire scent. It must have been something.
